The Master Degree Seminar
Majoring In Your Marriage

The purpose of the Master's Degree Seminar is to challenge couples to treat their marriage as though it were a university and their spouse as their major. They take classes in various subjects from courses such as communication, sex, spiritual maturity, in-laws, finances and more, and the goal is to help them graduate 'cum laude' instead of 'Lawdy how come!'. In just the few classes named, what kind of grades would you be getting? This course is designed to challenge you to set your sights high and go for the Master’s Degree. You are encouraged to purpose in your heart to go to the degree of the Master in your marriage.

God’s plan for marriage is perfect. Every marriage based on God’s blue print should succeed. Most people go into marriage with unrealistic expectations. Many marriages begin with such high hopes only to find themselves within a relatively short period of time in a destructive relationship. What happens?

There are five major areas of possible conflict in marriage:

FINANCES
COMMUNICATION
SEX
IN-LAWS, BLENDED FAMILIES
SPIRITUAL MATURITY & RELIGIOUS FAITH

Most marital problems seem to fall into one or more of these areas. There are other problems in marriage, but these appear to be the five areas that affect most couples. Too often we fail to remember that marriages are the union of  two imperfect people. “Don’t make me over”, is a good rule of thumb.

Remember, the purpose for dating is to collect data in order to make a wise decision. Once you get married, one should continue to collect data in order to increasingly move towards the ultimate goal of—Two Becoming One.

Marriage is not an over-night journey—it’s an over-life journey. We hope you will determine in your heart to be a model student and become a knowledge seeker in your quest to receive the Master’s Degree.
